Staghorn was popular and provided an excellent grip.

note the saw back pattern on this sword, this was actually a fairly popular option on German Swords. The buffalo horn grip was very sturdy.

A striking 4 barrel twistlock pistol hunting sword.  Unusual piece but quite interesting dated 1750. Very nice walnut burl handle
